Jaw Fractures

Using advanced techniques and minimally invasive approaches, we strive to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients with jaw fractures.

Quote 3

Jaw fractures occur in our pets usually from trauma. This could be due to a dog fight, hit by car incident, a trip and fall or other accident. Some pets may also be predisposed to jaw fracture due to severe dental disease causing loss of bone. Thankfully, the prognosis for most jaw fractures is good to excellent with proper care and expertise.

Unlike traditional methods that may involve invasive surgeries with metal nails, plates or screws through bone and, often times, teeth, our approach to treating jaw fractures prioritizes patient comfort and optimal outcomes. Through innovative methods, including wire splints reinforced with acrylic, we effectively stabilize fractures while minimizing trauma to surrounding tissues. Additionally, we insure that your pet maintains a normal occlusion or relationship between the teeth and the closure of the mouth. This is essential to maintain comfort and function long term. Each case is assessed individually, and our experienced team develops customized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of the patient.

At Mainely Veterinary Dentistry, we handle a wide range of cases with expertise and precision. Once your pet is stable, we recommend scheduling a consultation to discuss the best options for your pet.
