Compounding the aforementioned difficulties of general practice, medicine is constantly changing and when it comes to dentistry – this requires equipment and training. Mainely Veterinary Dentistry is limited to dentistry only so that I may be able to offer the best dentistry service to your patients and their owners.
Here at Mainely Veterinary Dentistry, we love dentistry because we value the enormous impact it can have on the quality of life of an animal and the human-animal bond. Many people are not educated on the importance of dentistry in their pets. We enjoy spending time with owners to thoroughly explain the importance of dentistry and what it takes to return a mouth back to healthy and how to keep it there. We will work cooperatively with pet owner(s) to make a plan that works for them and their pet without sacrificing standard of care. For this reason, we require a consultation appointment prior to a scheduled procedure. At the time of our consultation, we will discuss anesthesia, the procedure, at-home care, as well as veterinary care after the procedure. A detailed treatment plan will be provided prior to scheduling so that the pet owner will know what to expect in advance.
After the procedure, we will provide dental charts, dental x-rays, pictures, and well written records to make sure you are fully informed on the care provided for your patient. Clients will receive detailed go home instructions, a copy of the dental radiographs, dental pictures, and chart. If oral surgery is required, patients will return for a two week recheck appointment. We will be happy to discuss any cases by phone as well, so do not hesitate to reach out. We love talking about dentistry!
For advanced cases such as large oral neoplasias, jaw fractures, and impacted teeth, please do not hesitate to reach out to us before referring. While we are willing to treat many of these conditions, we are not board certified dentists and will refer advanced cases, when the owner is able, to Veterinary Dental Services or another board certified dentist. We also do not offer endodontics (root canals) at this time.
Thank you for considering our practice for your patient’s dentistry needs. We are very passionate about dental care for cats and dogs and look forward to providing this service for your patients.
