Two-thirds of cats and dogs teeth are under the gumline as they have very long roots. We must take dental x-rays to fully assess these teeth. Additionally, pets cannot tell us when there is something wrong in their mouth so we rely on this information to find problems. It is no uncommon to find a lot of painful problems when we take x-rays.
