Just like in people, the center of a tooth has a nerve and blood vessel in the center and when it is exposed it causes pain and infection. Bacteria travels down the tooth causes necrosis of the tooth and also allows bacteria into the bloodstream. Options for treatment with pulp exposure include root canal or extraction depending on the severity of the fracture.
